Microneedling in Melbourne

Microneedling has been around for a long time and is known to produce great results for the skin. The DermaPen 4, which we use at HÜD, is one of the latest FDA and TGA approved microneedling technologies, and is considered safe.

How the DermaPen device works is it creates micro-injuries on the skin, using a very fine ‘micro’ needle. Creating injuries sounds bad right? Actually, these injuries induce a natural healing response in the skin, which promotes the production of new collagen, and thus, improves the skin’s tone and texture. Scars and stretch marks can also be reduced. All this happens with little discomfort or downtime, which means you can obtain a fresh look with minimal impact to your day-to-day life.

DermaPen is effective on a range of skin types. In particular, those with fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin texture will benefit from the new collagen and elastin DermaPen microneedling treatments promote.

Note, there are some people who aren’t candidates for microneedling. Before any DermaPen treatment, we do a skin assessment, and if we find that your skin is not suitable for the treatment, we will advise you during the assessment.

It depends on your skin type and what outcomes you want to see. In general, it’s recommended that you have a series of between 4 and 6 DermaPen treatments (spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart) for optimal results.

We offer three levels of treatment for our DermaPen Collagen Induction sessions (Basic, Elevated or Top Tier). To summarise, the Basic includes needling, followed by a sterile hyaluronic sheet mask that serves to speed up the healing process. The Elevated treatment includes either a peel or a serum that is infused into your skin during the needling. The Top Tier treatment includes a DermaPen peel, infused with MG (Meso-Glide) serums specifically matched to your skin.

You can also choose from a range of other DermaPen treatments for different areas of the body.

So, expect a microneedling treatment, combined with a peel. Sessions typically last from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on what area you are having treated. You can also choose add ons, such as the neck or decolletage. See our Bookings page for more information, or call us.

DermaPen microneedling is quite safe. At HÜD, we use the renowned DermaPen 4, which has the highest safety rating and TGA and TFA clearance. As qualified dermal clinicians and paramedical clinicians operating under Australian regulation, we’re not permitted to use any anaesthetic whilst performing microneedling. However, most report that the DermaPen process is not painful, and feels more like an intense microdermabrasion.

There are of course some people with unique health conditions who should avoid Dermapen, as at times, microneedling can cause a small amount of bleeding. If you take blood thinners, or have any clotting or bleeding disorders, have a weakened immune system, diabetes or eczema, then you should check with your health provider to get the all clear before embarking on microneedling treatments.

Dermapen can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, diminish acne scars, and promote a more even skin tone. Results are usually noticeable after a few sessions and continue to improve with each treatment.
